The Future

What steps must be taken to create KECU?  KECU is being developed under the rules established by the Kenyan Commission for Higher Education(CHE) as authorized by the University Act (1985).  It will be grown like the largest and strongest trees in the forest.  We will start small, nuture what we have, and grow more each year.  The strategy for growing KECU is: 1) Establish strong Organizing Committee, 2) Build support from local and regional leaders and institutions, 3) Involve many local, regional and worldwide partners in the development, 4) Use professional architectural and engineering services to prepare a campus development plan, 5) Prepare and submit comprehensive proposal for Kenya Coast University to the CHE for approval, 4) Implement approved development plan, and 5) Open KECU.

KECU is seeking to expand its main campus to more than 70 acres in the rolling hills overlooking the city of Mombasa, a bustling seaport on the Indian Ocean.  Land that produces crops of rice, yams, cocoa nuts and other foods will be transformed into an integrated campus including University Primary School, University Secondary School, Kenya Coast University and incubators for R&D and new businesses.  In addition, KECU will have satellite campuses for some of its programs in Mombasa.

Every graduate from KECU will be an entreprenuer and servant leader.  From the day they enter KECU until the day they graduate, students and faculty work together in applying these principles.  Wherever they go, things will change for the better.  They will start successful businesses and institutions and lead existing ones to levels of excellence that will make them highly competitive on the world markets.  KECU will be a different kind of university.  It is a future worth working toward!
